The De Conti property spreads over a surface of 20.000m2 on the Cartizze hills of Valdobbiadene, in the Venetian Prealps. 15.000m2 are destined exclusively to the production of Prosecco D.O.C. "Superiore di CARTIZZE" grapes. It is the only winery in the "Prosecco di Valdobbiadene" area to produce exclusively Prosecco D.O.C. “Superiore di CARTIZZE” grapes. This is a guarantee for the client, the guarantee that the product is authentic "CARTIZZE".
Azienda Agricola De Conti was funded in 1980 to continue in the footsteps of Bisol Sesto's wine-making cellar, known since the beginning of the 1900s by the old grapes merchants as a reference point in establishing quality parameters for the production of Prosecco grapes each year. The purpose was to improve and further select the grapes of the company, increase the wine-making production and update the winery to offer a wine of remarkably high quality.
The vineyards are cultivated horizontally, following the hill slopes according to the old traditions, in vertical-trellised rows. The vines are “Sylvoz” pruned and a single horizontal cordon is left, but variations are allowed to account for particular vine conformations. Being a small sized company, it is always possible to pick the grapes when they are perfectly ripe and carry them in small stainless steel containers (500 kg) directly to the press. The land and the plots themselves have remained untouched through time so that the production rarely exceeds the limits set by the "Prosecco" production protocol.
The steep hilly landscape which characterises the area implies that the vast majority of work in the vineyards is carried out by hand or with the aid of small mechanical appliances. The soil predominantly consists of clay, it is rather compact and favours a constant production especially in the driest years. The vineyards are small and laid down the steep hills facing south. The best plot follows the conformation of the hill to form an amphitheatre shape, sheltered from strong winds and yearning for sun rays throughout the day.
